The Weekly Meal Planner: How to Plan 7 Dinners in 15 Minutes

Part of the FamilyDecode Method: Decode → Plan → Practice → Review

"What's for dinner?" asked at 6 p.m. leads to the three worst outcomes: stress, takeout, or the same pasta again. Meal planning isn't about becoming a chef — it's about moving one small decision from the worst possible moment to the best one.

The 15-minute method: pick a theme for each night (pasta Monday, veggie Tuesday, leftovers Thursday…) so you're choosing within a lane, not from infinity. Ask each family member for one request per week — kids who picked a meal complain less about it. Then write the grocery list straight from the plan.

Post the plan on the fridge. The magic isn't culinary, it's mental: no more 6 p.m. decisions, fewer store runs, less waste — and a family that knows what's coming stops negotiating dinner.
